Short explanation

Fossil fuels are natural energy resources formed from the remains of ancient plants and animals, buried under layers of earth for millions of years. The three main types of fossil fuels are coal, oil, and gas. Coal is a solid fuel primarily used for electricity generation and heating. Oil, a liquid, is refined into various fuels, including petrol and diesel, for transportation. Natural gas, a gaseous fuel, is used for heating and cooking. These resources are non-renewable, meaning they cannot be replenished within a human timescale, and their extraction and use have significant environmental impacts.
