Description

Reactions of Alkenes

Alkenes can undergo various addition reactions. For example, when ethene reacts with bromine, it forms dibromoethane. When ethene is hydrogenated in the presence of a nickel catalyst, it forms ethane. Additionally, when ethene reacts with steam and an acid catalyst, it produces ethanol.

  1. a

State the product formed when ethene reacts with bromine.

Aim for approximately 1 distinct marking point.
