Investigating the magnetic field of a solenoid.

Method

Method to Investigate Magnetic Field of a Solenoid

To investigate the magnetic field produced by a solenoid, you will need to set up the apparatus as follows: Wrap insulated wire around a cylindrical object to form a solenoid. Connect the ends of the wire to a power source. Use iron filings to visualize the magnetic field. Sprinkle the filings on a piece of paper placed over the solenoid and observe the pattern formed when current flows through the wire.
