Paper 3Theory (Core)4 marks

Induced magnetism is a key concept in understanding how materials respond to magnetic fields.

Description

Induced Magnetism

When a magnetic field is applied to a material, it can cause the material to become magnetized temporarily. This is known as induced magnetism. The magnetic field aligns the magnetic domains within the material, causing it to exhibit magnetic properties. Once the external magnetic field is removed, the material usually loses its magnetism.

  1. a

Explain how induced magnetism occurs in a material.
