Governments and central banks often pursue a range of macroeconomic objectives, such as sustained economic growth, low unemployment, stable inflation, and a balanced current account. Achieving these objectives requires the implementation of various economic policies, including fiscal policy (government spending and taxation), monetary policy (interest rates and money supply), and supply-side policies (aimed at improving market efficiency). The relationship between these objectives and policies is complex; sometimes policies designed to achieve one objective might conflict with another. For example, policies aimed at stimulating economic growth could lead to higher inflation. Conversely, some policies might complement multiple objectives, such as investment in education improving productivity and thus economic growth, without necessarily fuelling inflation.
