A student investigated the effect of temperature on the rate of amylase activity. They mixed 2 cm³ of amylase solution with 10 cm³ of starch solution in a clean test tube. They placed the test tube in a water bath at a specific temperature. Every 30 seconds, they removed a drop of the mixture and added it to a drop of iodine solution in a spotting tile. They recorded the time taken for the iodine solution to remain brown, indicating all the starch had broken down. Describe a suitable method the student could use for this investigation, including how they would ensure fair testing and make their results reliable. You should also consider relevant safety precautions. (6 marks) [6 marks]
