• Use evidence for both classifications

  For topology questions, identify the physical evidence first, then identify the protocol or communication behaviour.

  This makes it clear why a network can be physically star but logically bus and prevents the two classifications being confused.

• Link the network type to the situation

  For a scenario question, identify the roles first: equal status indicates peer-to-peer, while clients requesting services from nominated servers indicates client-server.

  Using the defining roles provides both the identification and the justification required for explaining where each type of network might be used.

• State the different security purposes

  When asked about wireless security, link WPA or WPA2 with encryption, disabled SSID broadcast with reduced visibility, and a MAC address allow list with permitted device addresses.

  These measures do different jobs. Naming the purpose of each one demonstrates precise understanding and avoids treating all wireless security measures as encryption.
