Gateway

A point used to connect different networks and allow communication between them.

Internet registry

A service that supports the organisation and registration of Internet names and addresses.

Stateful inspection

A firewall method that records the state of network connections and uses that context when deciding whether to allow or block traffic.

Asymmetric encryption

Encryption using a related public key and private key, where the public key can be shared and the private key is kept secret.
