What a good answer should say
- The student should extend the design so that it describes how all or almost all key aspects of the solution or investigation are to be structured.
- The description should be sufficiently clear and complete that the intended structure can be understood from the documented design itself, rather than requiring direct examination of the programmed solution.
- This would move the work from a partially articulated design, characteristic of Level 2, towards a fully or nearly fully articulated Level 4 design, worth 10–12 marks.

Why this works
Level 2 covers only some aspects. To reach Level 4, the design must cover all or almost all key aspects and clearly communicate the structure of the solution or investigation.
The improvement is therefore about completeness and clarity of articulation, not merely adding more detail to aspects that are already described.
