An investigation was carried out to trace the movement of water in the above-ground parts of a plant using a coloured dye.

Method

Method

1. A leafy stem was cut under water and placed in a beaker containing coloured dye solution. 2. The plant was left in the dye for 2 hours. 3. After 2 hours, the stem was cut open and examined for the presence of dye. 4. The distance the dye had travelled up the stem was measured.
