Description

Ionic Bonding in NaCl

Sodium chloride is formed when sodium (Na) and chlorine (Cl) react. Sodium loses one electron to become Na+, while chlorine gains that electron to become Cl-. The resulting Na+ and Cl- ions attract each other, forming NaCl.

  1. a

Explain the process of ionic bonding in sodium chloride.

Aim for approximately 3 distinct marking points.
