Causes and Effects of Deforestation

Deforestation occurs due to timber extraction and logging, subsistence and commercial agriculture, construction of roads and settlements, and extraction of rocks and minerals. The effects include loss of habitats, soil erosion and desertification, climate change, and reduction of biodiversity and genetic diversity.
