What this unit covers
- Transformations: Identify, explain, and illustrate the following transformations, which may include combinations: 1. Reflecting a shape across a straight line. 2. Rotating a shape around a center by multiples of 90 degrees. 3. Enlarging a shape from a center using positive, fractional, or negative scale factors. 4. Translating a shape using a vector.
- Vectors in two dimensions: Explain a translation using a vector shown as AB or a. Also, perform addition and subtraction of vectors, and multiply a vector by a scalar.
- Magnitude of a vector: Calculate the size of a vector, represented by modulus signs, such as |AB| for the magnitude of vector AB.
- Vector geometry: 1. Depict vectors using directed line segments. 2. Apply position vectors. 3. Utilize the addition and subtraction of multiple vectors to express specified vectors in relation to two coplanar vectors. 4. Employ vectors for reasoning and resolving geometric problems, such as demonstrating that vectors are parallel, proving that three points are collinear, and tackling vector problems that involve ratios and similarity.
