Boolean logic is a fundamental concept in computer science that deals with true and false values, represented as 1 and 0 respectively. It forms the basis of how computers make decisions and process information. At its core, Boolean logic uses operators such as AND, OR, and NOT to combine or modify these true/false values. For example, an AND operation outputs true only if all its inputs are true, while an OR operation outputs true if at least one of its inputs is true. The NOT operation simply inverts the input, changing true to false and false to true. These operations can be combined to form complex logical expressions, which are then implemented using electronic circuits called logic gates. Understanding how to construct truth tables for these gates and interpret logic diagrams is crucial for comprehending digital circuit design and programming logic. Boolean logic is essential for tasks like controlling program flow (e.g., if-statements), database queries, and designing the very hardware computers run on.
